It has been extremely hot here in the Motor City and these people are flocking to any air conditioned establishment. What I must complain about are those who act like it's a day at the beach. They sit there lounging with their iced coffees and summer sizzler, catching rays from the fluorescent lighting. I guess the heat is making this seem more irritating than it is. Somewhere someone is probably writing about the irritated looking guy who always watches everybody else at the book store.

I was heading out for lunch today and I couldn't help but feel like I was in Hitchcock's "The Birds". Being in Michigan , we are lucky enough to be in the path of the Canadian geese migration. These fierce feathered fiends will attack without provocation. Three of these beasts flew in F-16 fighter jet formation directly at my car. I braced myself for the impact (and actually ducked (no pun intended) inside my car) but they must have veered off at the last second. I wonder if they would be good eating?

Assult With A Deadly Pot Roast

Last night, all night to be more specific, the neighbor’s dog barked. He leaves this dog outside when he is gone and the dog barks until he gets home. Unfortunately it echoes between the two houses making it loud enough to keep me awake. If I were to tell him about it he would say he was sorry and that he didn’t realize it was happening. Then he would leave the dog out again. I don’t really want to call the police, so in a state of sleepless delirium I thought about throwing a frozen pot roast over the fence to give him something to chew on. This sounded like a good plan until I thought: what if I hit him with it by accident? The neighbor would come home to find his dog unconscious laying next to a frozen pot roast. One way or the other the plan would have worked.

Harry Colon (Nice...What, these parents never said the two names together? I'd hate to be his proctologist!)

Rich Penny (the walking contradiction)
Peter Dabona (two names referencing the groin. I heard he was trying to change it to Richard Izhard.

I was at "Painera Bread" the other day and there was this old guy complaining to the manager. The exchange went something like this:

Old Guy: I ordered 3 sandwiches and 3 bowls of soup but all I got was 3 bowls of soup and 2.5 sandwiches.
Manager: Sir, I'm sorry about that. What kind of sandwich was it?
Old Guy: That doesn't matter. Do you know how embarrassing it was to bring home food and be short a half a sandwich? Do you?
Manager: I'm more than happy to refund your money.
Old Guy: That's not the point. I had to drive 45 minutes each way and when I got home part of my lunch was missing. Do you know how embarrassed I was?
Manager: Well than what can I do to make you happy?
Old Guy: Nothing!

Why in the hell would you be embarrassed? I could see angry, frustrated or pissed but embarrassed? Who was he eating lunch with? I would have been embarrassed to admit that I drove a total of 3 hours for some soup and sandwiches.

Have you heard the news that all General Mills cereals are made with whole grain now. I had the new Trix and it tastes different than I remember. I was crushed. What is happening? I know it's just cereal...for now. Long gone are the days of waking up on Saturday mornings and getting all hopped up on sugar cereals that weren't good for you. If you wanted something healthy you would have a bowl of fruit instead of the bowl of candy basting in whole milk. I was scanning the local newspaper because I like to read about all the "crimes" in the area. Recently a couple of these felonies stood out:

A cement goose was reported stolen off the front porch of a house. It was described as wearing a red Santa coat and hat. If anyone knows of the whereabouts of the goose please contact the police.
The police were called when a fight broke out in the girl's locker room of a local high school. The report stated that an eyewitness reported seeing hair pulling and eye gouging.

These horrendous crimes actually made the newspaper...and to think I live on the border of Detroit.

On occasion we hire workers from not the most reputable temp agency. I happened to overhear a conversation between two temps while they were having lunch. This is what I heard:

Temp B: (with a puzzled look) "How do ya know what toilet paper tastes like?"
Temp A: "Well I got this policy that I don't let anything touch my ass that I haven't put in my mouth."

I got one of those Dremel Electric Rotary Tools for Christmas and I happened to notice a warning printed in the manual:
This product not intended for use as a dental drill.

There also was a sticker on an Iron that read:
Warning: Do not iron clothes while they are being worn!

What has the world come to?
Any other out-of-hand warnings out there?
